HOW DOES THE BIBLE VIEW CHILDHOOD?

518

Glory a 5year old boy and Favour a 2year old girl, are siblings with high interest in typical jealousy among themselves and can be troublesome around the house. While they played outside the house on a sunny Tuesday, Favour suddenly started crying loudly that the attention of their mom was invited. Glory continued playing, while favour allegedly reported Glory for beating her.

The mom got angry and beat Glory out of anger, for beating his sister without a cause. Glory cried, without an opportunity to express his side of the story. However, he started playing with Favour again after few minutes (more intense than the first play they had).

Childhood is a stage and definitely a beautiful start. It keeps the heart warm and tender, as illustrated by the Lord Jesus Christ.

Matthew 5:9 ‘blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God’.

He calls those He accepts as children, those whose demeanor portrays peace. Peace is not in the outer part, it begins from the heart and goes on to the other facets.

Childhood is a time of less worry, much play and fast learning process. It goes beyond being free to knowing freedom.

Mark.10:14 “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. (NIV)

The child in everyone, which is that acceptable life of peace and sincerity is what God accepts and receives.

The Bible in several occasions call us children, and admonishes us in 1Cor.14:20 “howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men”. (KJV)

To maintain a heart free of malice and strife, in relating with people can be found effortlessly in a child.

Many remain sad for the missing experience of childhood, due to prolonged sicknesses , which is to be experienced largely.

Depriving a child from smiling or playing around is like making and shaping their world in gloom.
1Tim.4:12 ‘ let no man despise your youth’

Childhood is the stage of great beginnings, as it has proven overtime that what is sown as a child, is what springs up maturely in adulthood.

Therefore, reminiscing on your childhood, is nostalgic and reminds you of the grace and peace in your soul that the Lord wants you to live out as you journey with journey with Him.

Ps.127:5 Oh, how blessed are you parents, with your quivers full of children! Your enemies don’t stand a chance against you; you’ll sweep them right off your doorstep. (MSB).

That personality as a child is a weapon and ultimately the Lord’s weapon:

Jer. 51:20 Thou art my battle axe and weapons of war: for with thee will I break in pieces the nations, and with thee will I destroy kingdoms.
