Covid 19 is a tool to boost discipleship
One of the signs of maturity is to sometimes run away from the crowd and spend time alone, Jesus did this a lot of time. It is one lesson we must all learn some of the time. Some other time, it is more important to practice the things you are learning and teaching than to keep teaching it.
Matthew 14:23 And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray, and when the evening was come, he was there alone.
A lot of people felt that Covid holiday was a curse, Now I do not say that God is the one that inflicted the world with Covid… Do not get me wrong. But I believe that God permitted i know some people might no longer like me again for saying this but let me go ahead and say it.
If your spiritual life went down during the lockdown, I think something is seriously wrong with your spiritual life sir/ma, that is not an insult by the way but a call to a higher calling.
Questions to ponder upon!!
(i) Which Church was Joseph attending when he was in Egypt?
(ii)Which fellowship was Daniel attending in Babylon?
We should not miss the gathering of the saints, i agree but if your spiritual life depends solely on being in a physical location, then there is a need to wake up. There is a principle called the principle of gradualism.Things would not happen all of a sudden but would happen gradually. So I believe that there might still be a time in the future when the churches might be locked down again.
If such a thing should happen, would you able to stand as a believer or you would fall down because there are no people around you.
Do not allow your faith be in church, your faith must be firmly rooted in Christ. Church is not bad, God has a purpose for the church. However, we must understand that church as it is is changing each time you gathered with your family to pray and share the word of God, that is church. Don’t wait to get to the physical building before thinking you are in church
Do I want the church to open again? Yes and very soon too, but we must also get tired of church being a social gathering and come back to the place of deep personal walk with God
What is lacking in our Christianity of today is DISCIPLESHIP, let me show you something in the scripture. Luke 9:57 And it came to pass, that, as they went in the way, a certain man said unto him, Lord, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest.
I don’t know about you but I love this man already. This is a man who was ready to follow Jesus anywhere. He must be a disciple indeed. Let me paint a picture, this man left home that morning to attend one of the crusade of Jesus. And then he saw the manifestation of Jesus so he decided that there was no point going back home but to follow Jesus everywhere and anywhere
Does this guy look like some of us when we first started our walk in Christ? We were ready to go anywhere with Christ. I expected Jesus to be happy about the decision that this man was making to go with him anywhere but guess what Jesus saidOf course Jesus knew his heart and he knows our heart
Luke 9:58 And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head. Jesus was indirectly saying this…
You are free to follow me o but don’t think I have water bed for you to sleep, many of us want to follow Jesus because we have been told that we would sleep on water bed or Soft Moses, Jesus quickly told him… Foxes and birds have a more comfortable place to sleep than me o… So count the cost before you say you will follow me o.
Many of us might have given our lives to Christ being told that all would be sweet fine and rosy and that is true but it is not totally true, a disciple would not follow because of the cosy environment. A disciple would follow even to the point of death.
Are you a disciple or a church goer? The lockdown cannot lock the relationship of a disciple with the master Discipleship. That is the move of the Spirit at this time.God bless your heart and cause the seed of these words to germinate in your heart.
