SHOULD A CHRISTIAN GO INTO POLITICS?

568

Politics a is a position of authority and administration. It is not meant for babes and those without understanding of basic rules to govern humans.

In governance, proper management and order is expected, and it is a position that begins with the relationship of the one who has created the humans to govern, in order to lead appropriately.

Acts.13:47 For this is what the Lord has commanded us: “‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.'” (NIV)
Perhaps we have received the light(salvation) for ourselves, else it should be shown to every creation especially the Gentiles. And a good way to doing that, is having a place at the ruling phase of a nation and affecting its decisions positively and Godly too.

Matt.5:13 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. (NKJV)

The salt of a Christian is his understanding of God’s word, over all others. Therefore, any man who has no understanding, is tasteless whenever he is involved in anything, with anyone.

Majority claim that politics is a dirty game, while few people support Christians in joining politics Proverbs 29:2 says”When the righteous is in authority the people rejoice”.

In this scripture, we should know that God wants the righteous to be in authority because when the righteous are in authority it brings total transformation and thereby brings joy to the society.

If Christians do not participate, we will have bad leaders as it is today, We can only change a system when we are within the system not outside the system.

If the righteous are in authority the land will definitely flourish.
As the Bible says the righteous are the light of the world. God cares passionately about his creation and His world .
And the Lord is expecting us to influence our society positively.

Matt.5:15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lamp stand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. (NKJV)
We tend to shy away from where we ought to be, which is ‘the top’, ranking ourselves lowly under a basket. Remember that light in you is for the whole house, community, nation, country and the world at large.

Matt.5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. (NKJV)
As christians, with the light of God in us, having the rule in all matter of business is essential and mandatory. Having the light is not enough, shining it is the goal. That men may see the good works the Lord wants to do among humans and send praises to Him.

If Christians should be involved in politics the correction of wicked errors will be made. When we allow the unbelievers to involve in politics, the society suffers from their wicked act but when we don’t allow that, it won’t affect us because righteousness exalts a Nation and sin is a reproach.

Politics isn’t bad, as it is a unit established or laid down to properly run the affairs of a national body.
It shouldn’t be the other way round; politicians using our men of GOD for election campaign, meeting men of GOD for prayers and some biblical advice and motivational quotes.

We lament a lot over bad leadership at every sector and feel the pangs of negligence like a woman in labour, therefore returning no praise to God because no reason for that has been seen, all because the rule has been placed in the hands of the wicked
Prov.29:2 When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. (NKJV)

Leading as christians shouldn’t be as pastors and church brethren alone. The Holy Spirit should be in our waiters and waitresses, the school teachers and school heads, the mechanics and business tycoons, the palace servants and the Kings, the Presidents and actors, the fuel attendants and governors also.
Acts.6:3 Therefore, brethren, seek out from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business; (NKJV)
The service of the Lord, is also in the ruling of His people in every sector. Because the wisdom to get it going as it should be and the right people for the chambers, are from the Lord.

The nations has been given to us and desires planted in us for that rule. Let’s take it and make God (good) reign in it.
Isa.41:2 “Who has stirred up one from the east, calling him in righteousness to his service? He hands nations over to him and subdues kings before him. He turns them to dust with his sword, to windblown chaff with his bow. (NIV)
