No one wants to ever walk or work alone. At some point we need someone to relate with; someone to ask a question, help to carry out a task, share happy/sad moments with or even pour your heart to. Hence we’ve built different relationships overtime such that we have friends, close friends, neighbors, colleagues and even sweethearts.

Many people have different adjectives to describe this immortal being who lives in the heavens. Some people even doubt His existence. I believe in his existence, power and abilities. I relate with Him as a friend. I gist with him like I do with my physical friends and guess what? He responds as well, not just because I love Him but He first loved me, and guess what? I was created to give Him pleasure. He wants that kind of relationship with everyone.

Every child looks forward to the Christmas season because they know Santa Claus, or maybe Father Christmas as I grew up to know in my locality, would be giving gifts and they wouldn’t want to miss out. Many people also go to God when they need gifts from Him. Oh! I need to be awarded that contract, please God help me. Once the contract’s theirs, they forget Him until the next season when another gift is needed.

Some relate with God as servants only. As much as God requires your service as a vessel serve, he requires a relationship of a son/ daughter with you. How else do you get filled as a vessel before giving out? It’s only a matter of time before you become empty. Stop being too busy with activities in the church that you forget he’s a father who wants to speak and have a heart to heart discussion with his son/daughter. John 1:12. Being a son/daughter goes beyond activities, it’s about the relationship.

Some casual friends only remember you in their bad days, so they can cry on your shoulders, get comforted and move on. Once they’re back on their feet, they forget you until they’re heartbroken again.  When you’ve suddenly been sacked from work, you remember the church, so you can cry “why me, Lord?” and when God; the only ever faithful and dearest friend sends help to you and wipe those tears, you move on without Him.

There’s a friend who sticks with you through thick and thin. In the awesome moments, the crying moments, the happy moments, the periods of lack and plenty, holding your hand all the way. Sometimes, He bears you up in his arms that you’re lifted off the ground, other times he allows you to ride on his wings so much that you’re out of the real world. He’s so involved in your life and mindful of you. He alone gives your life a meaning, others can only try. Everyone needs such a friend. He is always dear and there. He’s ever present, you don’t need a phone to reach him neither do you need data to connect with Him. You don’t need any transportation medium to get to His abode. What’s needed is your HEART, WILL AND MIND Matthew 5:3. Imagine how sweet it can be having a truly devoted relationship with God. Enoch walked with God and while walking with God one day, God had to take him with Him to heaven. What an amazing relationship?

Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you. John 15:15.

… but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. Rom. 8: 15b.

What relationship would you rather have with God? Decide today! Have a beautiful week.
